Giving Your Coffee Table a New Life

Have you ever wondered how to bring new life to your coffee table? Well, let me tell you how I transformed a $5 garage sale table into a stunning piece of furniture. The table was originally white but had been spray painted black. Despite some water damage on the top, it had great potential.

Easy Steps for a Coffee Table Makeover

Sanding and Cleaning

To start the transformation process, I lightly sanded the entire table using a sanding block. Afterward, I wiped it down with a damp rag and used Krud Kutter to clean the piece thoroughly.

Painting with Elegance

For the painting stage, I used Behr Premium Interior Semi-Gloss Cabinet & Trim Enamel in the beautiful color Dayflower. I loaded the paint into my Wagner paint sprayer and followed the instructions to paint the entire table. If you prefer, you can also hand paint the table for a more personalized touch.

The Magic of Resin

To achieve a unique and glossy finish, I used Total Boat Table Top Epoxy. Mixing equal parts of Resin and Hardener, I carefully spread the epoxy over the table. I divided the epoxy into smaller bowls and added drops of Folk Art Acrylic paint in True Blue, Ocean View, and Titanium White. Mixing the paint and epoxy created a stunning effect.

Creating Waves

With a glove on my hand, I smeared the tinted epoxy over the surface, starting with True Blue and Ocean View. I poured clear epoxy along the edges of the colors and added the white on top. Using a Wagner heat gun, I carefully pushed the resin around to create beautiful waves. Layering clear and white epoxy, I continued until I achieved the desired look.

The Final Touches

Once I finished creating the waves, I let the resin set for 24 hours to cure. When everything was dry, I marveled at the stunning result. The coffee table had been completely transformed, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
