Coffee Creamer In Hot Chocolate

This hot cocoa mix with powdered creamer will have you ditching the store-bought kind. Make this easy instant hot chocolate mix in minutes. So you can enjoy a warm mug filled with this creamy-rich in chocolate flavor all fall and winter season.

There is something about a cup of hot chocolate that just says fall time to me. Maybe it’s the cooler weather that fall and winter bring and the warmth of the hot chocolate.

The last few years I have set up a hot chocolate bar for the kids which they really have enjoyed. Over at our sister site A Decorative home you can see how we set up last year’s hot chocolate bar.

This year I thought I would step up my game by using our own homemade hot cocoa mix recipe in our beverage bar. So let’s leave that store-bought mix, well at the grocery store. This homemade mix doesn’t take long to mix up and makes for a creamy-rich in chocolate flavor drink.

This mix stores in an airtight container for up to 6 months, well maybe if it lasts that long. I have already made some multiple times this year.

Ingredients Needed For Hot Cocoa Mix

The ingredients that are needed are quite simple. Powdered sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, instant dry milk, and instant French vanilla coffee creamer.

These ingredients mixed together make for the best cup of hot cocoa ever. The dry milk and the coffee creamer give this mix the creamy components. The powdered sugar brings in a touch of sweetness to the mix. While the unsweetened cocoa brings in the rich chocolate flavor.

To make it a richer chocolate flavor you could use a darker cocoa powder. One of my favorite dark cocoa powders is Hershey’s Special Dark.

In a large bowl add all the ingredients. Then using a whisk mix everything together until well blended. Once everything is mixed together store in an airtight container.

Toppings

The topping that can be added to hot chocolate is endless I feel. I just set up a simple hot beverage bar for this fall and winter season. Since I was keeping it simple I only added one thing of sprinkles, a pumpkin spice, dried mini marshmallows and whipped topping that’s in the refrigerator.

You see how I set the hot beverage bar up this year over on A Decorative Home’s Youtube Channel.

In the years past, we had a variety of sprinkles as well as chocolate and caramel syrups to add.

Peppermint sticks would make for a good stirrer. Crushed peppermint, mini chocolate chips, crushed whoppers, or toffee bits are a few sweet toppings that could be added. Replace the whipped topping with mini marshmallows.

My ideal cup would be to mix this hot cocoa mix in a warm mug of milk. Then top it with whipped topping, drizzle a bit of caramel, and add a slight sprinkle of sprinkles to the top. Then enjoy this delicious cup of hot chocolate while watching one of my favorite Halloween or Christmas movies.
